Planting Out

Here are a few top tips to help you make the best job of planting out your vegetable plants.

  • When your plants are growing strongly and there is no more danger of frost, you can plant them out in the garden.
  • Dig over the soil, then rake until it is fine and crumbly.
  • Stretch a piece of string between two sticks to give a straight row. Make a narrow groove with a stick or corner of a hoe. Water the groove.
  • Gently plant the seedlings along the groove at  the recommended distance apart, firming them gently into the ground.
  • Water the ground again using a fine rose.
  • Label the plants.
